Preference for business floats is given to businesses whose floats support a local community organisation or charity as there is a limited number of spaces for businesses only-floats.
Remember there is only ONE Father Xmas in the Parade – the jolly fellow at the end!
Health & Safety is paramount on the day. Please ensure that all your team involved have read and comply with the following rules:
Each float entry must provide TWO Marshalls (adult persons) to walk in front and beside the front wheel of your vehicle(s). Yellow Fluro jackets will be provided. These people do not give out sweets. Their role is public safety for your float!
Use loud music – portable radios are not loud enough in public. A simple amplifying system can be hired from Fauldings Sound phone 323 6068 to add volume – book yours now!
Please bear in mind the animals though if they are near your float during set up!
All vehicles & trailers must be road compliant and be driven by an appropriately licenced driver.
Trucks only – no truck trailers. No articulated trucks permitted!
All vehicles entered, must be decorated – including cars towing trailers.
For everyone’s safety please –NO THROWING ITEMS FROM FLOAT.
Walkers beside your float to hand out goodies…NO THROWING LOLLIES ETC.
Bring sunscreen, sunhats and lots of water to drink!
Secure all loose set or props if you have a float - nothing can fall onto the spectators or participants.
Any electrical equipment or special effects must be operated by a competent person and have appropriate fire safety equipment on board.
For your added safety, floats constructed on trailers are preferred. These are more visible to the crowds and easier to turn around corners – and you can slide your float base off and store it for next year!!!
All parade entry participants need to be supervised - particularly if they are children Your parade entry must be appropriate for small children to watch. We reserve the right to withdraw your parade entry on the day if it is not deemedappropriate.
So:
• No political or sensitive material
• Christmas theme only - no blatant advertising a product or cause
• Only age-appropriate messages please If in doubt, ask!
