Matariki Farmers Market on NZ public holiday 10 July, 2026.

 

Feilding Farmers Market has partnered with Ngā Kaitiaki o Ngati Kauwhata to bring a special public holiday to life on Friday 10 July 2026 from 8.30am to1.00pm.

Along with our full market offering of the freshest local produce we will be bringing a selection pf special stalls and activities, including: Kauwhata Maori Women’s Welfare League; Rongo Mauri Trust; Ngāti Kauwhata Cookie Decorating; Candy Floss; Face Painting; Art & Craft Stalls

A lineup of live  performances include: Tu Mai Aorangi Kapa Haka; Karatea-Goddard Whanau; Aria – Singing; Aliyah – Singing, and Pedro’s Band.

Matariki - a time to journey home, spend time with whānau and friends, and enjoy feasting on fresh, locally sourced produce.

Matariki Heri Kai comes from the Māori proverb ‘Matariki whetū heri kai’ meaning

‘Matariki, the bringer of food’

Start your day every Friday at Feilding Farmers Market from 8.30am beneath the landmark Clocktower, on the cobblestone quadrant in picturesque Manchester Square with its wrap around heritage streetscapes and buildings.

The bustling, happy chaos of the farmers' market is your chance to discover seasonal artisan delicacies while meeting with the locals and chatting directly with the farmers, growers and producers.

Here you'll find an abundance of beautiful fresh seasonal produce from across the regions, as well as fresh cut flowers, and seedlings for your vegetable garden.

The market is the perfect place to visit with children too, they’ll love the market vibe, music, and sampling food.

With about 30 stallholders each week the market is small but superb, one of the few genuine Farmers Markets, and the beautiful thing about the Feilding Farmers Market here you are buying and talking directly to the dedicated farmers, growers and artisan producers -and that’s wonderful and pretty rare.
