What a blessing for Feilding and Manawatū District with over 20 churches reaching out to families and community.
Traditions run deep here, it was almost 150 years ago when the new settlers arrived in Feilding bringing their families, tools, skills and Christianity.
Feilding’s very first church service was held in 1873 by a Wesleyan minister in Manchester Square.
The Presbyterians followed in 1874.
St John the Evangelist Church was built by the Anglicans in 1882 and still stands in Feilding on Camden Street, a beautiful listed Category 1 Historic Place.
The Catholics followed in 1885, and while their original church is long gone, St Brigids became an award winning church for its architectural design when rebuilt in 2010.
Through the years, the town and rural landscape become dotted with churches that established themselves as they reached out to their communities offering emotional, spiritual and social support.
Today the churches are a door of hope. They offer an extension to family living, where people of all ages and walks of life come together for worship and fellowship, to share, care and belong.
If you’re looking to continue your spiritual journey where you can learn and grow in your faith, then you’ve come to the right place with many opportunities to connect and belong to a faith community.
The doors of hope are open and welcoming in Feilding and Manawatū District.
