DRAMA/COMEDY
The play’s all female cast puts focus on relationships between women. The theme of women and work, the prominent issues of potential mothers within the play not being able to raise children. Exploring the relationships between colleagues, mothers, daughters and sisters.
The question raised in the play is the extent to which Marlene is to be celebrated or criticised on becoming the manager of Top Girls Employment Agency in London.
The opening Act as Marlene celebrates with women from history, legend and literature chosen deliberately by Carol Churchill – She chose women who have been all but forgotten to those without a special interest - In doing so, she participates in a feminist practice as ‘Herstory.’
