Feilding and the Manawatu welcome riders at the start of the professional men’s and women’s international Gravel and Tar events for their 6th year - plus, amateur cyclists in the Westpac Slicks and Stones. The Westpac Slicks and Stones starts in Feilding and finishes in Palmerston North.
The Westpac Slicks and Stones is breaking new ground in 2021 with a “Lite” version of 46KMs. Plus, there’s an e-bike division covering 46KMs! So everyone can ride the beautiful back roads of the Manawatu in what is fast becoming an iconic cycling event.
These events are part of the Manawatu Cycling Spree - a weekend of cycling-related activities (for participating and watching - young, old or in-between), so come along to Feilding and if you're keen, enter the Westpac Slicks and Stones. If you'd prefer to watch, there are many advantage points along the route – a good spot would be the intersection of Spur, Midlands and Watershed Roads - and you can join the fun from around noon at the Over The Line food and music festival, Memorial Park, Palmerston North, sponsored by Palmerston North City Council.
So, for the Westpac Slicks and Stones, here are the details:
- Slicks and Stones 100 - (a little shorter this year at 86.2KM)
- Slicks and Stones Lite - 46KM – and only $46 to enter (a dollar for every KM)
- Slicks and Stones – E-Bike - $46 to join this “electrifying event”
For further information and to enter one of the three events, go to www.gravelandtar.com (if you are entering the Lite or E-Bike, make sure to click on the correct "Enter here" button) or email firstname.lastname@example.org
